Privacy Policy
What this is
Cleared is a pilot logbook and currency tracking app for iOS, developed by Carpalink (operated by Marian Budean, Romania). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled.
Data you provide
When you create an account and use Cleared, you provide:
- Email address and display name (used for account authentication via Firebase)
- Flight logbook entries (dates, aircraft, airports, durations, remarks)
- Pilot profile information (certificate type, medical class, date of birth for medical expiry calculations)
Data collected automatically
When you use the GPS flight tracker, the app accesses your device location to detect takeoffs, landings, and flight time. Location data is processed on-device and stored locally in your logbook — it is not transmitted to our servers.
We use Firebase (Google) for authentication and crash reporting. Firebase may collect device identifiers and usage metadata in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
How your data is stored
Your logbook data is stored locally on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your personal iCloud container. Your iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Carpalink does not have access to your iCloud data.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not use your flight data for advertising
- We do not share your personal information with anyone outside of Firebase/Google for authentication and crash reporting
In-app purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Carpalink does not collect or store payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data.
Children
Cleared is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). You can also contact us at support@carpalink.com to request data deletion.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and notify users through the app where appropriate.
